Shopping in Mumbai means lots of fun. Mumbai caters to shoppers with all kinds of budgets, from shoe-string ones to the ultra hi-end. No wonder the bazaars of Mumbai are famous all over the world. The bazaars of Mumbai sell everything under the sky right from basic consumer articles, antiques and curios, apparels and perfumes, cosmetics, handicrafts, books, computers and peripherals, electronic goods, carpets, furniture, home appliances, plants and garden implements, sports goods, jewelry, gifts and flowers and more. The national and international brands, factory products, used articles, re-selling and more adds to the satisfaction of the shoppers.
Crawford Market is famous for eatables, flowers and fruits. Zaveri Bazar for jewellery and Mereweather for carpets.
In Colaba, Fashion Street is the best place to buy apparels. Likewise Bandra is familiar with local perfume, embroidery and souvenir artefacts. Chor Bazar is famous for antiquities, wooden articles, leatherwear and curios.

Most of the Handicrafts emporia and bazaars are located in the downtown area. Dont forget to check out Avante, opposite Regal Cinema, for its collection of souveniers at down to earth prices. Crawford Market, famous for flowers, fruits, meat and fish is a fascinating place to visit.

The main areas for getting good clothes are around Colaba Causeway and Fashion Street, which stretches along the Cross and Azad Maidan. You’ll get wonderful faux jewelry here in brass, terracotta and silver for no more than US$ 2 apiece.

Breach Candy and Kemps Corner, down the hill from the Hanging Gardens are also popular for their trendy clothes.
Chor Bazaar (Thieves Market) is antiquelover’s paradise if you like to gamble. Look for anything from brass door knobs to silver “hookaas”. For the watchful spender the shopping arcades in five-star hotels like the Oberoi and the Taj Mahal are a treasure trove selling authentic antiques, silks and designer wear. Keep in mind that the Government of India does not allow antique over 100 years old to be exported out of the country. If you’re in any doubt, the Archeological Survey of India can be of assistance.

Local traders on Mutton Street, who have been selling at this flea market for generations, stock an eclectic choice of goods ranging from teak and rosewood furniture to crockery, glassware, porcelain, paintings, beads, lamps, masks – and anything else you can think of.

Zaveri Bazaar (Jewelry Market) is famous for its diamond, gold and silver jewelry. Scores of jewelers line the narrow streets in Mumbai’s oldest bullion market. Dharavi is great for leather items ranging from bags of all sizes and colors, jackets and bags. The Ambedkar road in Parel is lined with factory outlets selling branded goods at unbelievable discounts. Apart from these there are departmental stores and malls like Loft (for shoes), Shoppers stop or Crossroads for apparel, etc. Every area like Santacruz, Malad, Goregaon also have their own shopping areas with a wide range of products.
No wonder Mumbai is a Shoppers Paradise!!
