If you’re looking for a destination that’s un-spoilt and non-commercial, where you can relax on the lap on Nature reflecting on its beauty and on life then Naukuchiatal is the place to be.  Naukuchiatal or ‘lake of nine corners’ is perched at an altitude of 3996 feet above sea level, is fed by an underground perennial spring and is known for its tranquility and for the orchards and dense jungles that surround it. This lake boasts of a good walking track around the lake, apart from boating and angling.
The deep blue lake is the main attraction. One can take leisurely walks around the lake or hire the row or paddle boats for a joy-ride. If you like fishing, carry your own fishing rod and head for the lake which has an abundance of carp. A permit is required which can be obtained locally from the Irrigation Department. Treks are also organized to neighboring forest areas as Jandhidhar and Jungliagaon (8 kms). Apart from these there are many mountain trails where one can bike and enjoy the abundance of flora and fauna. Many varieties of wild orchids abound in the hills.
At the entrance of Naukuchiatal there’s a huge statue of Lord Hanuman within the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple where one can pay respects.
There are plenty of orchards studded with apples, plums, avocados and berries. You can some for home or for your friends. There’s a Fruitage outlet on the Bhowali-Bhimtal road which sells exquisite jams, jellies chutneys (apple chutney) and honey (lychee flavor!!)

Journey time from Delhi: 6 ½   hrs by road, 7 ½ hrs + 1 hr (by road) by Rail
