Binsar is situated in Uttaranchal with a backdrop of tall mountains and deep valleys wrapped in alpine flora and fauna. As the sun begins to rise you get the first glimpse of the Trishul, the pyramid like snow clad Himalayan mountain range that is visible from Binsar.
One can visit the Jageshwar temple complex that has almost 125 temples of different sizes with myriad inscriptions and intricate carvings and is surrounded by numerous tall deodar trees with a serene cold stream flowing by. Of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva found all across India, one resides here. Also do try out the tea with its distinct flavor very different from chai in Mumbai or Delhi.
Another main attraction in Binsar is the Wildlife Sanctuary. A 10 km drive through the dense oak and rhododendron forest reserve that houses leopards, wild boars, deer and a variety of exotic birds leads you to the KMVN guest house. Just 100 km from the guest house begins a 2 km rocky walking trail into the forest leading to the famed Zero Point.
At an altitude of 7913 ft above sea level, Zero Point lays out for you a breathtaking view of the snowy Himalayas. It’s a sight of sheer beauty of untouched purity embedded in one of nature’s most mystifying creations.
